The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, increasing its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into a stronger base. Items with strong bases, such as Titans from eth, have no change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade trinkets, weapons, armor and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or additional effect when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, gathered in loot, dropped by enemies or received as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player must select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats as well as the necessary component or materials.

There are three kinds of universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be placed on any type of equipment.
